b2b holiday designs, part 1

recent assignment for client, cardstore. the development of a series of seasonal cards suitable to the unique needs of personalized, business 2 business sending. these are a few of my favorites that were chosen to be included in their 2011 business holiday offering. inspiration was taken from the fresh, clean design that i would send to represent my own business and collaboration with a very aesthetically driven art director. yeah, for great clients!

window dressing

great transom window above our front door was crying out for some love. a popular feature added to houses built at the turn of the century, it worked as a convection to cool the home in summer. found some great reference of flats in london which use the transom as an address space + worked up a few quick designs. thanks to the expertise of Allison + her etsy site singlestory ended up with the best address number in the OC! in 1906, the city of cleveland, in an effort to conform to one general system replaced many of the street names with a mainly numerical system. before that west 52 was know as “dare street.” i love that!

spring 2011 lenticular designs

10 new 3D + lenticular cards for client specializing in personalized photo product. the first 2 design create the lenticular on the front of the card. the third design is the cmyk reverse, for the customer’s messaging. really fun product + fabulous client. they pretty much let me play + always seem to pick lots from the original design exploration! i will post more of my favorites!

look! i can do swiss design

new client! the cleveland baptist association. last week i completed a system of 3 pieces for an upcoming fund raiser. poster + reply envelope + insert for this fabulous non–profit were completed with resonablly priced stock imagery + a swiss design style. nice to flex my traditional graphic design muscles again.

pretty craft theme

30+ piece of art were created for C4Ks, specializing in well thought out craft kits. incidentally, one of the most fun products in the world to develop. room to create fresh new designs; play with 3D + great new materials/finishings/product forms. i was really happy the client was enthusiastic about the palette, highlighting a strong orange/magenta combo! and with how the vintage/found image inspiration played out.

i love these new kid vals, i recently designed, for an online personalized photo client. the fun robot design + 8 others were picked up for snappily’s 2011 line. bonus: many of this international company’s product offering are manufactured as lenticular! yeah, who doesn’t love the look + the design challenge of creating art for 3D product. super geeky=super cool! + those kids are pretty cute too!

thoughts on proprietary work

for the past several months, i have been fortunate to be involved in the development + design of a series of large innovation + product development projects for various clients. while these are the cream of the crop + personally the most fulfilling designs gigs to pick–up. by nature, their innovation leaves little that the contractor, designer is privy to blog about. so happy that a few have recently hit the shelves and online retail, so i may begin to share.
